Hypomelanistic ( Hypos) Axolotls

Introducing the beautiful Hypomelanistic, or “Hypo” for short, is one of the newest and most exciting morphs discovered in axolotls! This unique genetic trait causes axolotls to produce significantly less melanin than normal, resulting in a lighter overall appearance with soft yellowish or golden tones. A rare and eye-catching morph loved for its soft pastel coloration and unique ghostlike appearance. Due to a genetic reduction in melanin, these axolotls produce very little dark pigment, allowing their lighter colors to shine through beautifully.

Hypomelanistic Axolotls are commonly seen in pale gray, creamy white, and golden-yellow shades, often with a slightly translucent glow that makes them stand out in any aquarium setup. Their xanthophores (yellow pigment cells) remain fully visible, creating warm, vibrant tones that contrast beautifully against their light bodies.
