Melanoid Axanthic Copper (MAC) axolotls are one of the rarest morphs to be bred because they express 3 recessive traits at once. They are melanoid axolotls (they completely lack all light reflecting skin pigmentation, or iridophores), they are axanthic (unable to produce any yellow pigmentations), and they are also copper (the skin pigment that should be black is instead reddish brown), resulting in the axolotl you see above! It takes careful tracking of genetics & bloodlines to produce a Melanoid Axanthic Copper axolotl!
Notice:
Due to unique genetic variations across the species, your axolotl may not look identical to the axolotls on our website.
