White GFP albinos are white with red gills, pink or white eyes, yet appear light yellow/green due to the GFP (green fluorescent protein) genetic trait. Young white gfp albinos may even be almost see-through, especially on their belly and tail. As they grow, they may show iridophores on only their gills, the rest of the body stays white with the yellow/green appearanceĀ . This species has a lack of xanthophores and melanophores. The green fluorescent protein genetics create a glowing effect under BLUE led lighting.
